Source: Robert Greene, "Tactical Hell or Strategic Heaven?"
Description:
A concept that refers to any situation in which we are left continually reacting to the actions and reactions of the people or things that intersect in our lives. Tactical hell is the result of not having control over the dynamic of our situation. This leads to continual feelings of frustration and pessimism.
The way out of tactical hell is to elevate your perspective. You first have to recognize you are in tactical hell, that you do not have control over the situation. Next, you have to decide whether the situation is worth such emotional investment. If you can, try to resolve it as quickly as you can. If it is worth it, you have to gradually start taking control over the situation by cultivating a clear sense of purpose, developing preparedness, and relentlessly focusing on progress.
